with lately that isn t depth of field but is in the sl phototools well okay the windlight settings is haze so there s two controls on haze that i go to first they re hazhoz and hazden hazhoz is how hazy is it way over there at the horizon is it easy or hard to differentiate between the sky and the land water over there hazden is how much haze you see in the general atmosphere the other one i play with is distmult distance multiplier basically crank it up and everything looks like it s seen through a faint haze what can these tools do you ask well here s something i did in sl which i honestly don t know if i could have pulled off in photoshop again no photoshop was employed here this is all inworld windlight and phototools effects so hey i did say i was going to start writing here again march 20 2017 by nathaniel pevensey in uncategorized leave a comment quite a lot has changed in sl over the past nearly 2 years hasn t it mesh bodies for men bento mesh heads with all the face bones new content creators new content one can create wow seriously quite a bit to discuss as far as what s fresh in sl me i ve gotten quite nutty about having a bento mesh head so i did succumb to the static mesh head for a while and i thought that i only kind of looked like adam driver s big brother but then bento happened what s bento so basically the nice people at linden lab decided that it was time to update the way that the skeleton of an avatar interacts with things attached to it so they started work on a project they called bento and added in attachment points like tail and wings the wings attachment is quite impressive i haven t played with anything for a human avatar that has a tail attachment though i understand that they re out there the only tail attachment i ve seen was an actual tail on an actual furry avatar and i was as always quite impressed with how detailed the avatar looked i m not a furry in the least but i will certainly give folks on sl who are points for doing amazing work on their avatars one of the aspects of bento that impressed the shit outta me was adding bones that one could rig to in the face basically you don a bento capable mesh head and you can edit it with sliders like you did with your system head it s amazing seriously amazing you have all the smooth rendering of a mesh head but you can make the chin pointy or rounded you can raise or lower the cheekbones it took me all of about 2 hours to justify spending the money on a bento head and heads up har har definitely check out demos kids some of the bento capable mesh heads out there are not rigged up for the vast majority of the sliders possible and you may find yourself thinking i spent half the money of the expensive one on something that i can t do shit with as far as modifying the shape i spent less time modifying what i had bought the catwa daniel head and wound up with a rather nath looking mesh head i m sure i ll be tweaking it a little bit here and there in the future but it really rekindled interest in sl for me oh did i forget to mention that a bento mesh head accepts animations well they do so you can do things like make your avatar wink or grin or multicultural menu last night so i thought i should give you a look see at what s going to be there i m one of their bloggers the south pacific food critic that s me and i think i ve got a set that has almost everything you d need for a party on the beach here s me in a hawaiian shirt no less with everything we ll look at the pieces more closely in a few moments this is the kei s tahitian feast set from kei spot and as you can see wow a lot of stuff huh it s a gacha there s 10 items in it 2 rare and 1 ultrarare the ultra rare is the tahitian canoe table that i m sitting at it s got four poses built in and it also distributes food and drink to you when you sit at it but let s have a look at some of the other things hmm from left to right on the table s seat here s the beans and rice the pineapple shrimp and the drink tray the shrimp and the drinks are passed out on clicking no plate of beans and rice but i think we can live without that don t you and here s the fish platter the turtle fruit salad and a little bit of the roasted breadfruit the fruit salad also passes out individual servings i have say these are some nice looking items aren t they i love that turtle salad bowl but wait there s more here s the bar because what s a luau without fruity tropical drinks it also gives out an individual serving of beverage as the table does and then there s the grill see what i mean about the textures those fish look downright edible and the coals underneath are quite fetching as well kei should be really proud of this piece you can play this gacha at the multicultural menu brown and black as above and also a lovely sort of gunmetal blue as you can see above the armrests fold up to show you where to set your drink where the ice bucket is and where to ash your cigarette and the footrest comes up too with a click on the handle which you can see on the brown chair there s about a dozen poses in the upright and in the reclined position that makes about 2 dozen between them for solos the upright sits have a couple option and the reclined ones have a cuddle option which i didn t explore as it was just me around the house tonight sniffle sniffle but that s okay the chairs kept me company i love the texturing on these i was at low graphics when i unpacked them and i must report that these are one of those well done mesh objects that doesn t turn into a jagged scribble of prim when you cam out and which look almost this good down there at low rezz but at high graphics well i ve rezzed them up in the classic manor white skybox by rageworks from back around christmas time these chairs really had such a proper look to them that i thought i d try to emulate a furniture catalog with presenting them to you one more photo to share a bit more close up the shirt i m wearing is by zanzibar creationz rors hasn t put it out for sale as she and i are trying to hammer out some copyright issues surrounding the fabric samples she used in texturing them if you and i have to admit i m quite impressed i got four of them at this session of the arcade each box seen at right witht he fellow in the white hat sitting on it comes with 1 object the stump i m sitting on the garden that s being watered the chocolate stand to the left of the box or the pair of mushrooms to sit on and one little piccoli doll which would be the small figures wandering around among these things and they do wander around here is the same scene just about 2 minutes later yes even the stool that you can sit on has a place on it for the little piccoli to sit with you and enjoy a cup experiment with shaders and has posted an interesting snapshot taken under water niranv dean has always enjoyed a reputation for pushing the limits of the the viewer first within his niran s viewer and more recently with his black dragon viewer a lot of the work he does builds on code developed by tofu buzzard such as with his implementation of screen space reflections and more recently godrays this work coupled with his own has enabled him to earn a reputation for producing a viewer with rich graphical capabilities now niran is pushing the limits again using both his one code and elements such a tofu s godrays to bring something to sl people have long wanted to see volumetric lighting effects on sunday march 1st he released a stunning video showing the work to date when watching it be
