ne a swatch of it on its own but as you can see over grape set match it is ridiculously blingy this is two coats of servin up sparkle you can really see how sparkly this polish is in the blurry photo below i honestly couldn t fault grape set match but i did have a little gripe with servin up sparkle in that there weren t as many larger hex sequins as i would have liked this meant that they applied unevenly on each nail you can see in the photos above that i ended up with a ton of them on my ring finger but not that many on my middle finger but i think with a little care when applying the polish this wouldn t be a problem at all opi must have realised how awesome servin up sparkle is because they also teamed it up with the silver foil your royal shine ness in the other duo pack which i will be showing you in the next post what do you guys think of this set do you like the glitter top coat or do you prefer the shatter top coats that were included in the other sets glam slam england is available in leading salons and david jones stores nationally july 11th 19 95rrp for your nearest opi stockists contact 1800 358 999 or visit www opi net au the items featured in this post were have swatches of another lacquer from the recent illamasqua toxic nature collection i have previously reviewed radium purity from the same collection and today i ll be showing you stagnate the name stagnate conjures images of well something kind of stale and swamp like but this lacquer couldn t be any further from that stagnate is in fact a delicious creamy purple taupe the formula was a touch watery so i used three coats for these swatches soooooo i ll admit it i m a real sucker for taupes sure it isn t the most original colour ever released but i love how versatile this colour is stagnate is both edgy and classy all at the same time i can see me wearing this polish with a number of my recent clothing acquisitions now for the one little downside of this polish the cost here in australia one illamasqua polish will cost you 34 to put it into perspective an opi will cost you about 20 and a chanel polish will set you back 39 so illamasqua is on the higher end of the pricing spectrum however in my opinion i think it is worth the price tag because i honestly can t fault any of the polishes i have tried from their range their formula is always consistent and generally above average and their colours are exciting and on trend so yes this is me declaring my undying love for illamasqua i was lucky enough to get this polish from illamasqua for review but all my other illamasqua s have been purchased with my hard earned cash and will i most definitely continue to buy their polishes the items featured in this post were provided for review for further information on gildednails taupe toxic nature tuesday april 5 2011 bys colour change collection i was sent the new bys colour change collection a couple of weeks ago to review and i have been so excited to do try them but unfortunately other things kept getting in the way so today i told myself that when i got home from work i was going to swatch the collection and nothing was going to stop me what i didn t count on was how freakin cold the weather has become over the past few days the whole point of mood polish is that it changes with your body temperature so if you hands are icicles like mine were tonight then the polish ain t changin i tried to swatch them and then stick my hands under warm water at which point the colour change would happen but in the process i would ruin the mani because i wasn t waiting long enough for the polish to dry so in the end i resorted to swatches on a nail wheel which is something i have never done before on this blog please forgive me director dave and my lovely followers i want to state from the outset that these polishes do change colour they just weren t changing enough on my frozen hands to be able to photograph them properly i also want to point out that regardless of their colour changing capabilities i really love the colours of these polishes so lets take a look first up we have the colours at normal room temperature which at the moment is pretty cold i used three coats for every colour but you could probably get away with two coats for all the colours except for blue glitter purple glitter and bright purple from left to right royal blue blue blue glitter bright pink salmon bright purple purple glitter next we have the colours when they are warm as you can see there has been a distinct change in royal blue blue glitter salmon bright purple and purple glitter the change in blue and bright pink was more subtle from left to right royal blue blue blue glitter bright pink salmon bright purple purple glitter and now the best for last as the swatches cooled down it created this awesome gradient effect on the nail wheel with the cool colour on the nail tip and the warm colour near the nail bed i wish i could have nails like this always especially with salmon and bright purple from left to right royal blue blue blue glitter bright pink salmon bright purple purple glitter despite the difficulties i had trying to swatch these i really did like the colours in this collection i would have liked the two glitter colours to be a little more opaque but apart from that i don t have any complaints what do you think you can get your hands on these bys colour changing polishes at fashion addict for 4 95aud each don t forget fashion addict ship to the usa the items featured in this post were provided for review for further information on change pink purple friday march 18 2011 zoya kristi julieanne wicked wonderful hey everyone today i have swatches of two of the colours from the zoya wicked wonderful collection now i know all you northern hemisphere folk may have already seen these polishes as the collection was released in the usa a few months ago however the collection was only released a couple of weeks ago here in australia to coincide with the start of our autumn winter season i m going to be honest and say that up until a couple of weeks ago i had no idea that zoya was even sold here in australia i also have no idea where i got this impression from but this is not the case at all haha you can definitely buy zoya here in australia and you can even buy it online if you find it isn t stocked somewhere near where you live on to the swatches kristi bright true red cream zoya describes this as a cream but it almost has a slight jelly finish to it this meant that the polish was a little sheer and as such i had to use three coats to get the opacity i desired however the formula was great so applying a third coat didn t cause any issues julieanne dark purple with gold peach yellow and green duochrome flashes i absolutely love this polish it is so complex and fascinating the duochrome effect was a little difficult to capture with my camera but you can see it in the corners of the bottle in the photos below and it was definitely visible on the nail julieanne only required two coats and applied like a dream i took extra photos of this one because it was my favourite out of the two both of these polishes were richly pigmented applied really well and dried really quickly the added bonus is that all zoya polishes are formaldehyde toluene camphor dibutyl phthalate free i am personally really excited for autumn and winter this year i am loving all the fashion and beauty trends in stores and i m especially loving the winter nail trends i tend to favour darker nail colours in the winter and i can see myself wearing these two colours over and over again throughout autumn and winter zoya retails for 17aud and my australian readers can pick up zoya from art of beauty australia vs ulta3 twilight fever hey everyone hope you are having a great week i have been ridiculously busy at work the past three days trying to tie up lose ends before i start my new job and before i go to hong kong on the weekend only two more days and i m out of here the other day after work i quickly popped into the chemist near my office to rummage through the ulta3 bin to see if i could find any cheap gems i instantly spotted a dark taupe colour with purple shimmer and thought it looked really familiar had i just found an almost exact dupe of chanel s paradoxal to me the base colour of twilight fever looked more brown less purple than paradoxal s base colour so i wasn t convinced it was an actual dupe but here are the pics of the two together on my nails and if you can see the difference you have better eyes than me i honestly could not tell the difference and in fact i got confused after a while about which brand was on each nail i have taken photos in multiple lighting conditions to show that it isn t just the lighting that makes them seem identical left to right twilight fever paradoxal twilight fever paradoxal so what do you guys think even if there is a slight difference for 2 25aud compared to 39aud it s a bargain dupe i would suggest all my aussie readers get their butts down to their local chemist and grab three or four bottles posted by gildednails at 3 quieter at work tomorrow so i will try and reply to all the comments then ok back to the polish lol is a gorgeous holographic purple polish in regular lighting the holo effect isn t that prominent but in bright lighting it really shines i have read over and over again that lol is a pita to apply but i honestly did not have any problems whatsoever with application i actually found it to be really smooth and easy to apply i used two coats with no base or top coat what do you think on the topic of holo polishes i have been searching high and low on the internet for china glaze s tronica notte today i have some swatches of borghese stellar notte which i received from the lovely carli aka konad licious in a recent swap i hate swatching a nail polish when my nails aren t perfect according to my standards anyway but i hate not posting on here even more so on to the swatches stellar notte is a really complex and unique polish it s a little hard to describe as well the base is definitely blue green and it is packed with purple green and blue shimmer of course such a complex colour was a total pita to photograph so i have included a stack of photos in different lighting to give you an idea of how gorgeous it is check out the pics after the jump keep reading posted by gildednails at 1 10 2011 11 20 00 pm 6 comments email this blogthis share to x share to facebook share part 2 of the essie winter collection but my swatches didn t turn out the best so i m going to show you my nye mani instead i am currently in queensland visiting family so a crazy nail art design was out of the question however i still wanted something a little bit special for the night so i decided to wear deborah lippmann s bad romance i m sure you have all seen it a million times before but here it is all the same bad romance has a sheer black jelly base with small purple glitter and larger purple hex glitter the first coat is a little streaky and patchy but a second coat evens it out perfectly i suggest you wait for the first coat to dry before adding the second coat otherwise the hex glitter moves around and ends up lumping up at the end of the nail i only used two coats but a third wouldn t hurt sadly br chipped on my pinky and pointer after only a few hours but i think it is because i used poshe instead of seche qd here is a pic in different light which gives a better indication of the colour of the glitter i promise i ll get those essie swatches up asap i hope you all had a fabulous new years eve an...
