partnership between singpost and yuhua primary school emerged from a unique opportunity facilitated by a teaching work attachment plus programme by the ministry of education moe two teachers from yuhua primary school ms celeste chen and ms kamirah spent two weeks immersed within singpost gaining firsthand insights into the world of philately logistics and the rich history embedded within singapore s postal heritage this immersive experience served as the catalyst to nurture curiosity and interdisciplinary learning through the stories behind every stamp across the primary years this initiative aims to deepen students understanding of singapore s heritage spark creativity and nurture critical thinking through the unique lens of philately the programme anchored by the acronym p²ost is designed to empower students to purpose and potential stamps more than just postage exploring their diverse uses and intrinsic value ownership connecting with singapore s philatelic history and fostering a sense of belonging strengthen heritage uncovering the historical cultural and social narratives embedded in singaporean stamps transform engaging with stamps in modern and imaginative ways pushing creative boundaries from primary 1 through primary 6 students will participate in engaging interdisciplinary lessons that connect stamps to a variety of subject areas examples of such lessons include stamp of history p1 students explore biographies of iconic local traders strengthening their language skills and understanding the historical significance captured on these stamps stamp of kindness p2 students will design kindness stamps write messages of appreciation and mail them to non teaching staff thus fostering empathy and realising the purpose and potential in stamps as tools for connection stamp of nature p3 during a rail corridor learning journey primary 3 students will journal their observations cultivating ownership and a deeper appreciation for the natural world stamp of culture p4 students will embark on a culinary learning journey identifying local delicacies on singaporean food stamps which have documented our culinary history they will compose short stanzas inspired by these dishes fostering a sense of ownership and appreciation for singapore s cultural heritage stamp of love p5 at their primary 5 camp students will engage in the tradition of letter writing composing heartfelt messages to their parents reinforcing gratitude and understanding the purpose of stamps stamp of the future p6 utilising ai tools primary 6 students will explore iconic locations featured on our stamps they will research and present information about these locations and then creatively reimagine these scenes in a futuristic context using ai tools encouraging innovation and a connection to singapore s evolving landscape my hope is that this programme will offer all our yuhualites unique learning opportunities to explore and discover singapore s rich
