the morby family the morby family saturday november 14 2015 little valentines i like to take pictures of the girls in valentine attire mostly so i can put them in frames the next year and for the blog so here they are june was about 2 weeks old the older girls got to have a valentine sleepover with grandpa drew and grandma lisa while zack and i enjoyed a quiet night at home as quiet as a night with a newborn can be the next day lisa came back and stayed with all 3 girls while zack and i went out for a sushi lunch since i could finally eat sushi again it was nice and of course zack showered me with gluten free treats food is my love language posted by callie at 8 57 pm no comments tuesday october 27 2015 june s newborn pictures i took the girls to fotofly when june was 11 days old to get newborn pictures of her and also some pictures of the older two berkley is 5 and peyton is almost 3 posted by callie at 9 06 pm 2 comments saturday october 24 2015 june margaret morby on january 30th my due date came and went then the 31st came and went i had resigned myself to pregnancy forever in fact i had a dream at some point that i went to the dr and he told me that my due date was actually in may and started laughing february 1st wasn t looking too eventful so zack made a smorgasbord of finger foods and we watched the super bowl my contractions were consistently 30 minutes apart the entire game but that wasn t anything new so we went to bed that evening just like normal around 1am berkley needed assistance going to the bathroom so i got up with her afterward i couldn t fall asleep because the contractions were coming stronger and more consistent by 2 they were about 10 minutes apart and i could tell they weren t going away this time during the last couple weeks of my pregnancy zack kept reminding me that he wanted to be notified about my labor via a text message that says it s go time he figured he would be at work when it happened so at about 2am on february 2nd i texted zack it s go time then i woke him up and told him to check his phone lisa happened to be awake already and rushed over we probably got to the hospital around 3 30 i think i was dilated to 4cm when they checked me i was expecting a super fast labor and delivery because that s what happened with peyton but june was in no hurry when i laid back the contractions would subside so i kept sitting up so that gravity would help they continued to offer me an epidural but i kept declining because it really wasn t that bad eventually when i was dilated to 6cm the nurse informed me that the anesthesiologist would be going into a c section and would be unavailable she said she would hate for me to go into transition and be in a ton of pain and not have him available so it was my last chance i actually considered not getting one because it really wasn t that bad but the memory of the pain of peyton s labor scared me into saying yes i did not want to feel that again the anesthesiologist was so funny he was a super talkative old man who kept calling me a lightweight and told me not to move to kansas or i would blow away once the medicine kicked in and i was really able to relax it felt so nice i realized how tense i had really been and how tired i was after a while there was still a spot on the bottom left side of my belly that wasn t numb i told them it was fine but they said i shouldn t be in any pain so they gave me an extra shot of medicine that would keep me numb for hours and hours after i had the epidural and relaxed the contractions slowed down so they gave me some pitocin to speed things along and i sat up again to help a little before 9 30 i was fully dilated which worked perfectly for my dr because i had an appointment with him at 9 30 that morning i ve never had a specific birth plan before this time i had only two requests 1 delayed cord clamping 2 immediate skin on skin i had never done either before unfortunately when the dr broke my water the fluid was greenish which meant the baby had pooped in there so they would need pediatrics in the room to take the baby immediately and clean her off and make sure she hadn t aspirated the fluid so i got neither of my requests june margaret morby was born at 9 46am on february 2nd 2015 groundhog day she was my biggest baby at 7lbs 8oz and 20 5in she did aspirate some of the amniotic fluid but the nurses were great and got it all out wide eyed that night i probably took way too many pictures of her sleeping but i just couldn t help it the many emotions of a sleeping newborn she is my baldest baby i couldn t believe how little fuzz she had on her head june was the only name zack and i both liked the only problem was that we name all our kids after places and june wasn t a place well zack typed it into google maps and found a place in california called june lake we figured that counted so we went with it we always use family names for the middle name we went back and forth between a few and didn t actually make a decision until a few hours after she was born we chose margaret after zack s grandma schvaneveldt and great grandma cragun it always surprises me how small they look in their car seats no children were allowed in the maternity wing of the hospital they came to visit and got to peek at june in the hallway while they stood in the lobby but that was it they were pretty excited to see her close up and give her some animals to play with all i wanted was a cute picture of our new family of five but one kid didn t want to cooperate this note was my favorite
