we learn to release what we cannot carry in our own strength each friday will be a prayerful space grounded in scripture where burdens are laid down peace is received and hearts are gently realigned with god s presence no pressure no striving just surrender as you step into this first prayer in the series allow yourself to slow down and simply be present before god as we come to the end of the week this is a moment to pausenot to analyse everything that has happened but to bring everything before god the weight you carried this week does not need to be carried into the next one some of it may be visible like responsibilities decisions and pressures some of it may be hidden like your thoughts emotions and the quiet concerns that never left your mind but all of it can be placed into the hands of god psalm 55 22 says cast thy burden upon the lord and he shall sustain thee notice it does not say you will never have burdens but that you will not have to carry them alone god s promise is sustenance not abandonment the lord jesus echoes this invitation in matthew 11 28 come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden and i will give you rest this is not just a suggestion it is an open invitation to exchange pressure for peace and 1 peter 5 7 reminds us casting all your care upon him for he careth for you not some care or selected worries all of it so today we do not rush past the week we surrender it we surrender the things we understand and the things we do not we surrender what went well and what did not we surrender expectations disappointments delays and unanswered deal with negative thoughts negative thoughts have a funny way of acting like they pay rent in your mind but forgot to ask permission first if you re not careful they ll settle in rearrange the this won t work remember last time you always mess this up so what do you do when that happens you don t host them you don t give them a mic and you definitely don t let them run a full conference in doing at the 2026 fifa world cup and now even though they are out of the tournament after a 2 1 loss to england i don t think their story ends in disappointment i think it ends in respect because going into this tournament very few people expected much from them most of the talk was about the giants of football the usual names the usual favourites dr congo was not part of that conversation but then something interesting happened they didn t just arrive to participate they arrived to compete and they pushed one of the biggest football nations right to the edge there were moments where they didn t look like outsiders at all they looked like they belonged and even though they didn t get their desired result against england they walked off the pitch with something that doesn t show up on the scoreboard respect and maybe that s something we don t talk about enough because in life not everything is about winning in the way people define it sometimes it is about standing your ground when thought for today a midweek reflection series this is a midweek pause to slow down reflect on god s word and realign our hearts in the middle of life s demands each reflection will be grounded in scripture offering encouragement for the everyday realities we all walk through not rushed not heavy just a moment to breathe reflect and be reminded that god is still present in the middle of everything the middle of the week often reveals more than the beginning it is where initial momentum begins to slow but the demands of life have not decreased in many ways this is the point where quiet pressure becomes more noticeable responsibilities are still ongoing expectations are still present and personal battles still unfold beneath the surface it is often in this space that people begin to feel the weight of simply continuing not necessarily from one overwhelming event but from the accumulation of many smaller things that together begin to feel heavy yet scripture consistently reminds us that god is not only present at the beginning of a journey or the end of a breakthrough but also in the middle especially in the middle as isaiah 41 10 declares fear thou not for i am with thee be not dismayed for i am thy god i will strengthen thee yea i will help thee yea i will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness this promise is not limited to crisis moments it speaks into the ordinary rhythm of life where strength feels stretched and clarity feels delayed the assurance here is not that everything is immediately resolved but that you are not left alone within it
