particular fridge a samsung has been trouble free until we moved it in the course of our great kitchen disaster once we got the electricity up to speed and the plumbing and all the other bother that we lucked into well we noted that the fridge woud occasionally trip the circuit powering it should we oh i don t know have lessee refrigerated food or something else costly and important therein that might pose a bit of a problem we connected it to another non gfi outlet and had one or two circuit trips but generally it functioned ok since functioned ok and refrigerator do not belong in the same thought in contrast to refrigerator and absolutely reliable without fail tdw mark ii telephoned the samsung repair service 800 number these worthies stated that they would require a sales receipt for a fridge that was about a dozen years old before they would consider arranging a service call and no that was not the dumbest part of this story sadly i asked tdw if she had shared her surprise at finding that these fine folks warranted their refrigerators for 12 or more years yes sarcasm you knew that didn t you she owned that she had not because she was so surprised that she was left without words you may be surprised to learn that we do not have that receipt as was i well no i was completely unsurprised she called samsung repair back and somehow spoke to a soul who would arrange for a samsung repairman to come out bad news i shit you not the phone drone told my wife that there would be a charge of 145 to schedule the service call payment for the service call at a price to be announced later would be over and above that payment of 145 which 145 fee would only pay for scheduling the service call this fee would not be applied to the charge for the service call itself oh no that would be another charge altogether unsurprisingly we did not schedule the service call we figured that repairing our present fridge would cost us in all likelihood 145 to schedule the service call and probably 200 for the service call itself and probably 400 1000 for the part s required to bring it to acceptable levels of reliability i suspect that i am not the only one who thinks that 145 no shit there i was once upon a time long ago and far away i was mid leveling at a clinic some soul arrived having injured his knee and found that extended standing such as was required in the schooling said individual was presently undergoing was painful progressing as the day went on to the point where i cannot bear to continue to stand on it that might present a problem this soul had spent years getting to this point and appeared reluctant to miss completing schooling if at all possible to power on through my non radiologist read of the knee x ray did not reveal any break nor any dislocation so i prescribed my routine care plan rest good luck ice several times a day elevate your knee and ibuprofen and given this soul s circumstances i prescribed crutches and a rigid knee immobilizer yeah that s right i said immobilizer dah dah dah dramatic foreshadowing a while later i received a phone call from the local medical supply store an employee thereof told me that they had my prescription for a knee immobilizer and they had no immobilizers in stock could i prescribe something else i inquired what else did they have well began the employee we have a hinged knee brace very nice will this hinged knee brace immobilize this patient s knee uh no hmm can you explain to me how this thing that you do have which will not do the thing that i need it to do will be at all helpful to this patient i did next hear her as if in an aside to somebody next to her just more than whisper this guy s a jerk my initial thought unspoken was my dear sweet summer child you imagine miss june 26 2026 june 12 2026 reltney mcfee leave a comment those among you who appreciate irony might like the following tale so y all know i am not a fan of video visits yet last night i attempted to arrange one i had had some variety of creeping crud featuring coughing think cough up a lung coughing at something like hour to two hour intervals which neatly coincides with the middle of rem sleep which since i was attempting to sleep was kind of inconvenient i had indeed followed my own advice employing claritin or zyrtec flonase or some nasal steroid spray lots of fluids and rest see above to determine how well that worked after long about day 5 maybe 6 my partner offered to box up my lung after cleaning it up and setting on my desk for reimplacement at my leisure she s funny i like that that and the fact that what had started off as a reasonably nice day from an endurance standpoint developed as the hours passed into an endurance run that i was not equipped for so with my partner s help i stumbled to the end of my shift and headed to my vehicle now the practice that i have been a patient at since around 35 years ago has an urgent care this urgent care offers video visits they are open until 2200 which is around the end of my one hour homeward commute i logged into the website and typed from my phone oh frabjous joy my demographics an image of my id and my insurance card in the midst of these proceedings received a phone call from said urgent care the nice lady on the other end suggested that an in person visit might be superior particularly among the geriatric cardiac patient coughing up a lung demographic that it appeared that i was occupying her exact words were the provider thinks she is going to need to listen to your lungs i agreed and interjected that i myself had just listened to my own lungs and heard nothing lung concerning we then had a conversation regarding why my partner or myself could not simply prescribe for me i noted that my supervising physician frowned upon that practice for reasons both medical as well as administrative in short verboten she noted that the video visit thing was not going to work out due to assessment shortcomings i scheduled an 0800 in person visit the next day and started home where i spent the night leveling up my cough game awakening around 0630 as is my workday norm i realized that work was not going to happen and so called in at my urgent care visit that morning the pa i saw noted my normal lung sounds toldja neener neener neener and the voluminous mucus coursing down my throat she reviewed my management measures reviewed above figured that they were sufficient and prescribed me an antibiotic and some steroids interesting side note my android phone holding a note app said
