story in brief i was born in 1961 i have lived most of my life near pittsburgh pa i never got married nor had children however i have one sibling an older brother and through him a niece and two nephews and through them six great nephews and four great nieces and through my oldest great nephew a great great nephew i graduated from penn state in 1983 with a b s degree in nutrition science i attended denver seminary from 1988 90 i was working towards a master s degree in philosophy of religion but due to health problems i had to drop out before graduating with about two thirds of the credits needed for graduation completed i powerlifted very successfully while in college 1979 82 again in my 40s 2003 09 and again in my 50s 2015 21 but health problems forced me to stop competing each time but i was then able to compete in a contest in september 2024 health and environmental issues prevented me from competing in the spring of 2026 like i had hoped and caused significant training setbacks but despite these ongoing struggles i hope to compete again someday but probably not until 2027 i became a christian in the mid 1980s i founded darkness to light christian ministry in july 1991 i started fitness for one and all on july 12 2003 this zeolla org website was established on may 5 2009 biblical and constitutional politics went online new year s day 2017 my covid fearmongering and lies website was set up on october 17 2023 my first book was published in 1994 but my second book not until 2001 but since then i have written over forty books on christian fitness and politics subjects including a translation of the bible all of them are available in multiple formats i thank the lord that i have accomplished all of the above despite dealing with many health and other problems throughout my life and still on a daily basis my autobiography the lord stood by me and gave me strength the life and legacy of gary f zeolla author bible translator champion powerlifter from powerlifting world records to over 40 books and a pioneering bible translation from battling chronic illness to weathering financial storms and singleness struggles my life has been an unlikely testament to god s sustaining grace available from amazon in multiple formats for as little as 3 50 my health problems the worst of my numerous health problems i have struggled with are as follows crippling low back pain near fatal bicycle accident various sleep disturbances fibromyalgia chronic pain plus chronic fatigue stiff person syndrome a very rare auto immune disorder multiple chemical sensitivity severe allergies rotator cuff injuries after being crippled by back pain for six years i completely overcame it in 2000 i recovered from the various injuries from the 1999 bicycle accident except for my right shoulder it is now filled with arthritis building up where the bones were fractured the stiff person syndrome can leave me almost completely paralyzed for hours to days at a time though thankfully the most serious of symptoms has mostly abated though i always wake up stiff and sore sometimes exceedingly so the various sleep disturbances include restless leg syndrome unexplained noises in my head popping cracking snapping and other sounds neurological tics and other problems one or more usually flare up on any given night so i rarely get a good night s sleep these have been ongoing since 1990 the fibromyalgia began in 2001 the fatigue especially is an ongoing problem my allergies gradually worsened to the point of mcs most recently i had to have surgery on each shoulder in turn to repair two torn rotator cuffs in each shoulder in between and after these surgeries i sustained three muscular injuries the most recent and ongoing is describe at squat injury i also now have tendonitis in both elbows i also have numerous less serious problems to deal with as well follow the links above or see the dealing with health difficulties section on my fitness site for further details on these various problems and my book the lord stood by me and gave me strength my christian salvation as indicated i have had to deal with many health and other problems in my life however the lord has truly proved faithful in enabling me to handle having to suffer with so many afflictions but the lord stood by me and gave me strength 2tim 4 17 but most of all i am thankful for the eternal salvation that christ has provided me by his death on the cross for my sins i know beyond any doubt that a better life awaits me after this one for i consider that the sufferings of the present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory about to be revealed in us rom 8 19 alt3c if you the reader would like to experience the peace and love of god and to know that you are forgiven and saved consider the following promises from the bible 16 for god so loved the world that he gave his only begotten or unique son so that every one believing or trusting in him shall not perish but shall be having eternal life 17 for god did not send his son into the world so that he should judge the world but so that the world shall be saved through him 18 the one believing or trusting in him is not judged but the one not believing already has been judged because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten or unique son of god john 3 16 18 30 now indeed many other signs jesus also did in the presence of his disciples which have not been written in this scroll 31 but these have been written so that you shall believe or be convinced that jesus is the christ the son of god and so that believing you shall be having life in his name john 20 30 31 8 if we should say or claim we do not have sin we lead ourselves astray fig deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us 9 if we shall be confessing our sins he is faithful or trustworthy and righteous that he shall forgive us our sins and cleanse or purge us from all unrighteousness 10 if we should say or claim we have not sinned we make him a liar and his word is not in us 1john 1 8 10 13 these things i wrote to you the ones believing or trusting in the name of the son of god so that you shall know that you have eternal life and so that you shall be believing or shall continue believing in the name of the son of god 1john 4 13 alt3c for further details see the forgiveness and salvation section of my christian website and my book trusting genesis and the gospels a defense of divine creation of the resurrection of christ and of salvation in christ my powerlifting i competed in powerlifting back in 1979 85 as a teenager to my early 20s but had to stop due to health problems i again competed from 2003 09 then in my forties but once again i had to stop due to health problems and injuries i started competing again in 2015 then in my fifties i continued until i turned 60 i then did not compete for another 3 1 2 years but i entered a contest in september 2024 now 63 years old despite ongoing health struggles i hope to compete again someday but probably not until 2027 if i do i will move up to a new age category 65 69 i compete in the 114 or 123 pound weight classes i m 5 0 my lifts at my
