running me at 11 20 am 101 comments labels zutter zister spring blog hop thursday march 25 2010 recycle those empty toilet paper rolls into a fun little mini ok we all have these available why not put them to good use instead of throwing them out i am talking about your empty toilet paper rolls since march is a green month let s think green and do some recycling with the help of our bind it alls and the fabulous zutter rivets both are fun to use and easy peasy too i decided to make a book of colors for my grandbabies who are 1 5 years and 2 5 years old first i saved 10 tp rolls next i flattened them and painted gesso on them so i could use some fun glimmer mist colors on each page i wanted each page to really sparkle here they are drying don t you love the marble ish look after i finished spraying each page on both sides i cut out the color using cardstock then glued it to the roll here is one done and one not done i did both sides then used my pink bia to punch the binding slots next i used the zutter pound it all to set rivets on each toilet paper page including a little loop of ribbon i squirted a smidge of hot glue down the end of the tp roll where the binding would go to help keep the roll nice and flat you don t have to do this glue step but i didn t want little fingers trying to explore gaps in the toilet paper rolls next i bound the book together using the 1 1 4 antique silver owire i punched out my title glued it to the front then used a silver pen and traced the word black since it did not show up as well all finished give recycling a creative try today it is fun and easy peasy this project is perfect for creating any type of fun little mini and other than the owire you probably have all the supplies right now in your craft room or the bathroom happy albums even more when there is a special reason behind them i made this mini album as a thank you for a friend and those always mean so much to me this is my way of letting the people i know and love that they are special to me for the cover i used the zutter s 4x6 craft covers and covered them with patterned paper i added a photo and used some wood letters and a flower for embellishment i love trying to find different things to add to my wires for decoration and one of my favorites is twine and buttons the inside pages were made with patterned paper and have photos and i made flaps for the journaling most of the pictures i took were landscape but i had a few that were portrait and wanted to add them to the album without them looking out of place so i added 2 pages to the album using to help my scraproom s organization how many of you have a stack of mini alpha stickers lying around in a messy pile well i know i do so i created this album to store my stickers to create the book i used zutter s 8x8 black bamboo spine cover all to embellish the cover i just added a simple design with patterned paper then i decorated the rest of the cover all with my leftover letters for the inner pages i used the 8x8 pre punched page protectors this allows for easy storage for your stickers just slide them right into the page protector even though i used the pre punched page protectors album case have you got a vacation you would like to remember in a fun and unique way why not try a zutter mini luggage and some of your favorite travel paper and photos to make this cute little album and album holder when i saw this luggage i instantly thought what a an adorable album keeper it would make for a vacation mini album here how you can make one of your own first i took a qtip and colored the straps of the suitcase with some alcohol inks next i cut paper and adhered it to the outside of my suitcase using coordinating paper i created a small album that fits inside the suitcase and bound it with some 1 4 owire i also chose to cover the inside of the suitcase with paper and some paper embellishments this was a very quick and easy project that could be accomplished in about an hour these suitcases are so adorable and really offer a cute way to house and display your mini albums to top it off they are great on their own but can also be altered to fit any theme or event this luggage monday march 15 2010 bind it all 101 class starts on wednesday still time to register if you are newbie to the bind it all or just never quite got the hang of it this class is for you bind it all 101 punching binding and zo much more this is a 4 week course that covers all the basics of your bind it all and walks you through one or more projects per week including the cute punching binding create a green project this one is perfect for your spring cleaning to do list this project is easy to do and is very green you can recycle your old gift cards into covers for a cute little notepad if you only have one gift card that you like find a fake credit card like the kind you get in junk mail or a gift card you don t like that you can use for the back cover supplies bind it all 2 gift cards no money on them about 10 sheets of printer paper or notebook paper 4 loops of 3 4 zutter o wire strong tape runner adhesive 1 cover the backs of each gift cards with patterned paper this is to cover the ugly upc code parts of the cards make sure there is no money on the card before you do this because you won t be able to use the cards after this if you re using an ugly card for your back cover cover both sides of that card with paper 2 insert the cards into the bind it all with the insides of the covers facing each other use the holes printed along the top of the machine to make sure that you re only punching 4 holes into the cards this is what your cards should look like once the holes have been punched 3 cut the printer or notebook paper down to slightly smaller than your gift cards a standard size seems to be about 2 x 3 4 punch 4 holes in the top of the paper pieces along the 2 shorter side you can punch as many papers at a time as will fit in the bind it all slot 5 stack your pages in this order to be bound notebook or printer paper stack then put the cover on top then put the back cover on top so you can see the inside of the back cover this is important because it will ensure that the seam where the o wires close is in the back of the book 6 thread the o wires from the bottom through the paper pages then the cover then the back cover 7 close the o wires using the bind it all machine flip the back cover to the back and voila instant mini notepad easy peasy if you don t have any old gift cards or you want to make a bunch of these you can get the giftcards at your local friendly retailer but before you go shoving a pile of cute giftcards into your purse ask the store if you can take them for a craft project sometimes they want you to load money on them i just spend the cards on my next purchase if that happens and afterwards i have the empty cards to keep other times they just let me have the stack of cards the stores keep track of their inventory of cards so if you just take a bunch besides being like stealing they won t reorder any because their inventory will say they are all stocked up and how will you get new cute gift cards to make mini
