clint shera skip to main skip to sidebar tuesday october 4 2011 labor day we were lucky this labor day weekend to have emmy and jeff stay with us we were happy that jeff s cousin s wedding just happened to be on the same weekend as labor day and alex s birthday and we loved the giant sparklers they brought from the wedding on monday we headed down to the snake river greenbelt and rented this fabulous surrey bike when they told us that all 8 of us could ride it at once i was skeptical but we made it work we put benji and carter up front and the rest of us took turns peddling and steering i m not going to lie it was hard work but i was laughing so hard most of the time i did not notice until i got off and my legs were a little shaky i loved the looks everyone gave us as we rode by we stopped at a park for a little snack then we headed back home for the birthday festivities we drank butterbeer like good little harry potter fans seriously strong stuff in the sugar department and opened gifts before emmy and jeff had to head back home we loved having them stay with us and can t wait for them to come again posted by shera at 11 37 am 5 comments thursday september 22 2011 alex is 10 my kids keep breaking the rules i tell them to stop growing but will they listen no sir alex is now 10 here are the top ten things i love about my boy 1 i love his smile i don t love the price i am paying for the orthodontics this kid needs but i love all the ways he smiles the happy smile the cheeky mischievous smile the silly grin the let s get this photo over with smile and even the weak i know i am in big trouble but remember you still love me smile that smile just might be his saving grace some day i searched through all my photos and i do not have single picture of him smiling with his teeth he says it s because he hates his teeth thank goodness we have a good orthodontist maybe someday i can get a photo of his winning smile 2 i love that he loves to play hard clarification i do not love rough play which he also does frequently but i do love that when he plays he goes all out he runs around at a million miles an hour with that huge grin plastered across his face and i love that he includes almost always his siblings and neighbor friends in his play he amazes me with the games he comes up with to play 3 i love that he likes to read and i love that when he reads he wants to be snuggled right up next to me while i read a book too 4 i love that he loves sports he plays them all and he is a really good athlete he is playing his first year of tackle football right now and it has been a big learning experience for us all 5 i love that he loves babies he loves to hold them and play with them my heart fills with joy when i see him with a baby he is such a natural nurturer i love to see the sweet calmer side of my crazy boy 6 i love his singing voice he really can sing well he gets that from his father he sang once with a friend in church my heart melted and i forgot how crazy he makes me sometimes maybe i should make him sing more often 7 i love that this boy can dance seriously he has the moves and we have no idea where he got them but when we turn on the music he can t help it he starts to move and groove 8 i love how smart he is he does really well in school and gets his homework done quickly every day now if he would talk a little less and hold still in class 9 i love his sense of humor and the funny scary stories he tells he is always telling me new jokes and when we get together with the cousins he has an arsenal of his latest and greatest scary stories to share 10 i love his big heart underneath all his craziness he has such a tender heart he loves his family and his friends so much he is very loyal and protective of them and best friends cael and maddie are so great i could not ask for better friends for my son i love this boy my first born son he is a good example to his younger brothers and i am so happy that he is my son happy birthday alex posted by shera at 8 12 am 2 comments monday september 5 2011 back to school 2011 i love the front porch photos on the first day of school alex is in 4th grade and elizabeth is in 6th carter is starting kindergarten this year i guess i did not even need to worry about him being too nervous carter really panics when i need to leave him and go somewhere without him he was so excited he marched right in and sat down next to his friends and got to work now lets hope i can get something done in the few short hours they are gone posted by shera at 9 07 pm 9 comments tuesday august 31 2010 back to school so it s official summer is over school started with a bang or rather some showers i guess it is easier to sit in a classroom all day when the weather is not nice outside school teachers must have some pull with the weather man because the temperature always takes a big dip when school starts around here elizabeth is in 5th grade and picked her outfit out ages ago alex is in 3rd grade and picked out his outfit 10 minutes before the bus came i love how different boys and girls are these two headed off to the bus stop together while the little boys jumped on the couch so excited to see that big yellow bus coming down the road dreaming of the day they can ride on it themselves carter is still in preschool but is as tall as a first grader just looking at the smile on his face in this picture tells you so much about this little boy we love miss cathy and are glad carter will have one more year with her this little guy found plenty of things to occupy his time but i could tell he was glad to have his siblings home again because he tackled carter and hugged him for several minutes when we picked carter up from school i keep telling my kids to stop growing but they tell me they can t stop i think they just like to break the rules so i am left hoping that growing is the major rule breaking these kids do this year i think this year is going to be a good one posted
