our corner skip to main skip to sidebar our corner a multitude of small delights constitutes happiness charles baudelaire saturday july 11 2026 wildlife museum avery wanted to hang out with a friend at a park in st george they could only hang out for a couple of hours and honestly with the temperature being over 100 we knew they wouldn t last long we didn t want to drive back home only to turn around an hour or so later to pick her up so we decided to make a day of it we dropped her off at the park with her friend and then james and i took kilian to the wildlife museum in all the years we ve lived here this is the first time we ve gone to this museum and i would like to try to visit more of our local attractions they had a variety of animals insects and a fun kids section where there was a place to feel the different coats of fur and learn about animals in different climates james and i thought it was neat and quite enjoyed ourselves kilian did get a little bored after a while but we learned something new got to explore a local attraction and killed some time before we went and picked avery up before heading home posted by our corner at 10 58 pm 0 comments thursday july 9 2026 visitors at work today we had an unexpected guest come to work around 3 or 4 deer came walking through the back of the property from the stream they didn t seem spooked by the clients who were sitting by the fire pit they looked at them and then just continued on their merry way it was such a beautiful and peaceful site i really love where i work posted by our corner at 1 46 pm 0 comments saturday july 4 2026 july 4th happy 250th birthday america unfortunately both james and i had a pretty heavily loaded work week and by the time saturday and the 4th of july rolled around we were both exhausted we spent most of the day relaxing at home but we did at least want to do something so we took the kids and avery s friend cassidy to sand hollow to see the fireworks unfortunately our secret spot is no longer as secret as it used to be still it was fun to go watch the fireworks i did feel bad that in such a huge year as the 250th celebration we didn t do too much more but i m happy we at least did something posted by our corner at 11 36 pm 0 comments saturday june 27 2026 fish lake drive home i forgot to mention one thing on our drive home we noticed we were passing by butch cassidy s childhood home loving history as much as james and i do we stopped to spend some time it was really neat but at the same time the people responsible for the upkeep look like they are having a hard time but it was still fun to say we stopped by posted by our corner at 11 13 pm 0 comments fish lake my brother and his family go camping each summer recently they thought of inviting the siblings and their families along this year it s turned into a sort of family reunion we reserved a tent site at the bowery haven resort everyone is staying at and luckily it is only a 3 hour drive from us the week leading up to the trip was a bit of a fight james had a tooth pulled a couple of days before the trip the dentist told him he should be fine to go avery was mad because we wouldn t let her bring a friend just your typical teenage drama we got packed and after james got off work we headed up we got there with plenty of light to find our camping spot and set up our tent we socialized with some of my siblings and their families that night and had a campfire to roast hot dogs and s mores it was the only night we had a fire because of fire restrictions that were going to be put in place for the rest of the time we stayed june 24 27 and had a fun time we fished in the lake but we didn t catch anything we played catch went for walks and hikes and did a scavenger hunt put on by the resort we got to spend a lot of time socializing with my side of the family and just genuinely had a fun time we also did get rained on really badly but luckily our tent did great and held up well to the elements overall it was a fun trip and we are now exhausted and happy to be home oh i should also add this story while we were fishing avery had a bat land on her she was so excited and said he was so cute i was able to use my hat to scoop him off her and put him a safe distance from us on the ground where he eventually flew away posted by our corner at 10 59 pm 0 comments older posts home
