mahna mahna mahna mahna taking on life one monumental mishap at a time thursday july 19 2018 4 stitches bahaha i was trying to install the new cord on the back of the new oven cuz they don t just come with them like logic would dictate and that metal sheet on the back of the oven is sharp as all get out i don t have an extender so it was tight fitting my tools in the space my hand slipped off the 31 2017 10 11 00 pm no comments wednesday september 14 2016 the postpartum day cries pierce the air through the baby monitor i open my eyes and struggle to adjust to the darkness dread wells up inside me for the day and all it entails is this what my life is now starting the day at a 50 makes it seem impossible to ever get to a positive number i try my hardest to put down the infant sleeping in my arms in order to get to the monitor to shut it off once i do there is a moment a very small moment where i think to myself how long can i pretend i don t hear her crying horrible thought i know which is why i shove it down i get said toddler out of bed and she is a piece of work oh good if hate for this day to be a any better than i expected i spend ten minutes looking for her ginky before i wake the seven year old and talk her into school she requires a talking into on a daily basis i poor the milk in three cereals for the three kids home that are old enough to eat cereal three minutes later i am mopping milk off of the table and floor we load in the stroller and walk to school my pelvis is out of place so every step hurts but we make it just in time for the bell phew head back home infant wants a snuggle but just from me toddler wants a snuggle but just from infant tears on both sides after 1 2 an hour i get toddler to leave infant alone so i can snuggle him to sleep it doesn t last long as she insists on getting under the same blanket and putting her feet all over him a dinosaur sings a song on barney about how everyone is better at things than him and i cry it s only 10 am posted by concerned at 9 14 2016 10 11 00 am 1 comment labels the mom life sunday july 19 2015 six years it s been blistering hot this summer but yesterday was gloomy gloomy and rainy it poured in fact there was still lightning in the sky at 1 15 am on my way home from work so imagine my surprise when i stepped outside this morning sunshine and happiness abound on this pleasant summer day it s like it s god s way of saying hey don t be sad everything s cool six years ago yesterday day my husband lost his best friend and my best friend lost her husband all in one fell swoop for the first year we just held on for dear life there was no putting the pieces back together there was no way we could handle that yet we were all too fragile we just scoped our pieces up in our hands and held on tight sometimes we held our own pieces other times we helped each other hold our pieces together and on rare occasions one of us would hold all the pieces sometimes the others needed that but we all took turns and at the end of that year we still had all of our pieces and we could slowly start putting them back together that took time too imagine a five year old putting together a 1 000 piece puzzle it wasn t easy in fact it was really hard for everyone involved but we never gave up we took our time and slowly but surely we finished putting ourselves back together and today our together sure looks different than it did six years ago some of our pieces are weathered and torn some had to be replaced entirely and are new and shiny and beautiful we will never be what we once were but i like to think we are better for it stronger even they say when broken bones heal they are even stronger maybe that s how it works for us too because we made it out the other end and now we know that we can handle anything together scott we think about you all the time we talk about you we laugh about you we were broken when we lost you but now we know you are never really gone you are with us in much more than feeling bad for someone who is struggling if we are truly compassionate and caring for our brothers and sisters we should feel hurt for them when they hurt we should feel love for them when they love we should feel scared for them when they are scared we should feel joy for them when they are happy why do we have to limit ourselves and our compassion to feelings on the negative side reasons why i love my 38 year old hubby 1 he makes me laugh every single day of my life without even trying 2 he s also the smartest guy i know if there were an olympic medal for trivial pursuit pop culture we d have a winner 3 he has awesome aspirations for his future career he works so hard at work and school and he is so talented and i know when he s finished he s going to love what he does 4 he doesn t put up with my crap and gives me awesome feedback he can talk sense into me better than anyone 5 he always puts the toilet seat down 6 he is my bestestest friend in the whole world 7 he holds the priesthood and honors it he has been able to bless me and our family numerous times 8 he gives the best kisses and the best hugs 9 he laughs at my jokes 10 he rubs my back for me all the
