joyful in his presence in your presence is fullness of joy psalm 16 11 wednesday may 6 2026 the spice king a book review the spice king by elizabeth camden is the first book in elizabeth s hope and glory series the story begins by meeting annabelle larkin from kansas who has moved to washington d c in order for her blind sister elaine to do volunteer work at the library of congress while she herself works at the smithsonian identifying and cataloging different grasses annabelle is challenged by her boss to obtain a slip of the original vanilla orchid that he convinced is in the possession of a man by the name of gray delacroix who is owner of delacroix global spice company there are many twists and turns in annabelle s adventures that bring her to become well acquainted with gray i do not want to share those because that would spoil the adventures for the reader it becomes evident that gray does not have the original vanilla orchid but because annabelle has become good friends with gray she is approached by the u s government officials to basically become a spy for them it is suspected that gray has committed treason it was a very hard decision for annabelle to make because she has grown fond of gray and does not believe that there is any way that he would commit such a crime however she has been promised a permanent job rather than the temporary one at the smithsonian if she cooperates again there are many twists and turns in her adventures as she spends time at gray s farmhouse and explores all of the buildings on it she uncovers some very valuable information and turns it in as it turns out it wasn t gray who committed treason in order to find out who it was you will need to read the book i would highly recommend this book it s a page turner for sure it has april 29 2026 breaking once again i am so thankful for each of you who gives of your time to stop by this space to read and communicate with me if you have read here for any length of time you know that when spring summer comes it is time for me to change my posting schedule a bit i wanted to let you know that after today s post i will only be posting on wednesdays for a while we have family coming to visit in may and there are things that i want to accomplish before their arrival i have some flower gardens that need my attention and i m not getting any younger which means it takes me longer to accomplish the things that need doing then as the season progresses there will be vegetables that will need to be preserved and we will also be having some electrical work done before long in short a very busy time is approaching and i need to be able to take things as they come without worrying about schedules i will do a bit of the three four types of posts that i do here it s just april 28 2026 self control in poetic form our prompt for the one word challenge for the month of april was to get wordy and lisa mentioned that we could either write out our own words in the form of poetry or we could share a poem that contains our one word in order to spare you the reader exposure to my attempts at poetry i chose to go the route of using a poem written by someone else while the one i chose does not contain the word or phrase self control the content definitely points to it and so i present to you rudyard kipling if you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you if you can trust yourself when all men doubt you but make allowance for their doubting too if you can wait and not be tired by waiting or being lied about don t deal in lies or being hated don t give way to hating and yet don t look too good nor talk too wise if you can dream and not make dreams your master if you can think and not make thoughts your aim if you can meet with triumph and disaster and treat those two impostors just the same if you can bear to hear the truth you ve spoken twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools or watch the things you gave your life to broken and stoop and build em up with wornout tools if you can make one heap of all your winnings and risk it on one turn of pitch and toss and lose and start again at your beginnings and never breathe a word about your loss if you can force your heart and nerve and sinew to serve your turn long after they are gone and so hold on when there is nothing in you except the will which says to them hold on if you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue or walk with kings nor lose the common touch if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you if all men count with you but none too much
