our little fox den skip to main skip to sidebar our little fox den sean kendra lucas xander and isabelle monday december 19 2011 november warning long post playing catch up all saint s day is a very special day in the catholic church and it is celebrated as such this year going to a catholic school has definitely made this day special for us and brought new meaning to it as well k 2 and the 4th graders dress up as a saint luke picked st dominic this is a very special saint to their school st dominic began the dominican order and the boys school is run by the dominican sisters xander picked st luke well because his brother s name is luke haha xan s costume was purchased but luke was very set on which costume he wanted to wear that i had to make his all but the cape i did do the hood lining in the cape too k 2 goes to mass dressed up here is xander s class along with his teacher at the head of the line sister gloria christi who we have become very fond of the 4th graders do what is called a saint s alive exhibit each student is given a totally different saint to dress up as and study they are given a stamp on their hand that acts as a button other classes from the school come in and another student will push their button to bring the saint to life and tell you all about it it was so great here is luke s teacher mrs buckley walking around with a pre schooler luke just adores her and she has made this transition easy for him sean s parents came for a visit mid november while they were here we took a trip down to gorgeous chattanooga it s not a bad drive and the scenery is well worth it we went to ruby falls it s a cave with a waterfall at the end it had a lot of narrow stretches and it s a pretty long hike down there were a lot of formations but this one had to be posted just due to the fact that we just moved away from here it s not a great picture but it did look quite similar to the horseshoe falls in niagara this is the reward at the end it was ab so lute ly breathtaking here is the view of downtown chattanooga from on top of the mountainside where ruby falls is located while we were in chattanooga we had to hit up the aquarium we spent so many afternoons at the one in niagara falls that i am sad to not have one so close although this one is definitely by far better here they are petting the sting rays xan i think was reaching in to take one home by the looks of his sleeves haha the butterfly room wished we had gotten there earlier the butterflies weren t active this time of day but each of the boys did get one to land on them i just love jelly fish they are just beautiful and graceful the kids just loved these types of exhibits there it s hollowed out in the center so they can get up in there and feel like they are in the tank while sean s parents were down they brought the kids their christmas gifts here is belle opening up the cupboard that jim had made her we went over to the carnton plantation we actually ended up making the trip over on the 140th anniversary of the battle of franklin which the carnton plantation played an important role and they had re enactors i love franklin its absolutely beautiful and had to make a trip over with the in laws belle loved playing in the leaves while we were there lunch at bb kings is a must wow what great food posted by sean kendra at 2 40 pm 1 comments october what would october be without visiting the pumpkin farm adrienne and i took the kids up minus luke due to scouts and they had so much fun i really want to get these for the boys of course the hayride the boys school does an annual fundraiser it s called starry night and we went we had a blast it was so fun to go dress shopping and pick out something fancy and get dolled up for a night i am so glad that wall is not that bare anymore haha here was my awesome shopping partner adrienne and i spend way too much time together most of it is shopping and we both know our hubby s are looking for ways to separate us haha and of course it s all about the shoes i made adrienne get the red ones i have to say we live in a very fun neighborhood we get together all the time especially around holidays we had halloween in the cul de sac in front of our house we did s mores and hot dogs over the firepit and had chili to eat there was candy for the kids and then we all took them to the neighboring development to trick or treat loved it posted by sean kendra at 11 12 am 0 comments a wedding we went home for a quick weekend in september never again will we do that and drive it the kids were exhausted we were exhausted we didn t get to see everyone we wanted we went home for sean s cousin s wedding sean and isabelle were both in it the bride is isabelle s godmother and we absolutely love her and her family so we really wouldn t have missed it for the world here is isabelle in her iconic glasses she goes everywhere with them i think she thinks they shield her from the world here is sean piping and here is the gorgeous couple so i didn t get many pictures pics above are borrowed because i forgot my battery charger at home and i bought and used a universal one from walmart well lesson learned it ruined my battery i did however get this one picture below that i have fallen in love with posted by sean kendra at 10 55 am 1 comments cross country the boys new school has cross country for all grades so the boys signed up i didn t realize that this is a competitive sport i had only thought it was something fun through the school but it involves all catholic schools within our diocese crazy so this first picture is only to put it in perspective for you i was baffled by how many students are involved and how seriously it is taken the boys had a great time and did very well improving on was in town visiting we went out to arrington vineyards this is owned by kix brooks of brooks and dunn this is sprawled out over acres and at night they do a music in the vines where you can pack a picnic dinner you can bring your own drinks but if it s alcohol then they just expect you to have theirs its an absolutely beautiful view we also took her down to the jack daniels distillery it is out in the country and the grounds are absolutely beautiful posted by sean kendra at 10 24 am 0 comments monday november 21 2011 the parthenon my sweet friend catrina came down in september the boys were off school one of the days so we took them to the parthenon in nashville here is the only pic i got of catrina and i together and sadly we did soo much the boys in front of the parthenon athena inside playing catch up july and august were only spent trying to get adjusted to our move and our new life i didn t realize how much of a blur it was until i downloaded pictures from my camera i found there weren t many the boys met a little boy in the neighborhood and have spent every moment possible with him ever since it s absolutely cute to watch the 3 of them walking back and forth between houses as if this is how it always has been so august brought us yet another hard decision the schools in tn don t rank up to the standards that ny does our area is in the top however we weren t zoned for the elementary we wanted so private school was left to be our only option it turned out to be the best option the boys have adjusted quite well to catholic school we love how the school challenges both our boys a constant problem with lucas i love also that they are going to the school that is associated with our church here is a pic of the boys on their first day of school i will be updating more
