mommy s apron strings mommy s apron strings i hope to inspire and entertain you with a lot of sewing and a little of everything else tuesday may 11 2021 floral raglan dress with a 60 s vibe i fell in love with collar s etc raglan sleeve dress pattern when it came out but at 13 50 per size for the paper pattern i did not buy it recently the pdf version was released with all 5 sizes included so i was happy i made this size 2 from poly cotton pique i found at joann s it was a hidden gem at about 4 yd the floral is a recent find from hobby lobby so this was all around an inexpensive dress i started by embroidering the flower on the front before construction when it was done i thought it looked wide short to be hemmed and i also don t care for gathering and turning up a curved hem so i added some rick rack someday i might do something different but it looks ok for now i would like to make some bloomers from the floral to match but haven t done so yet the raglan sleeves are cut in 2 parts to give a nice cap shape construction is easy and i really like the look of the finished dress i substituted a ruffle for the included collar definitely something i would make again posted by pandemic i have certainly made a lot of masks i have done them from surgical cloth and novelty fabrics pleated and contoured and even origami for holidays and workplaces for us or to donate here are a facebook share to pinterest monday august 17 2020 shell museum quilt this is a quilted wall hanging i made for my mom for mother s day i previously made her the oyster shack quilt for mother s day and it looks great in her kitchen there are a series of 4 buildings that go together but i knew i wanted to do the shell museum next it is made on the embroidery machine in 3 parts and then sewn together and bound the top part is the roof and lookout tower the middle section has the shell museum i had fun choosing colors for the shells i used a brown variegated that looks cool i also like the white sailboat in the window the bottom panel has the most going on the pie in the window was supposed to be lemon meringue but i changed it to key lime because my mom makes a scrumptious scratch key lime pie i remember one summer i accidentally knocked one out of the fridge onto the floor what a waste of deliciousness there is a little ice cream shop in walking distance from their house and we like to
