the smith family the smith family scott aimee dallin daphnee maylee tuesday october 15 2013 dallin s 5th birthday i m not usually this behind on birthday posts but i m so behind on our blog it isn t even funny anymore i did want to share some shots from dallin s lego party we only had time to shoot a few of him before the party he had 3 friends come and they had a blast playing and eating cake and ice cream of course it has kind of become a tradition for me to make dallin s cake and we had fun coming up with other fun ideas that incorporated the theme over all it was a huge success and it was nice to keep it simple i am so thrilled that i get to spend another year with this little guy before he starts school he is so helpful and sweet when he s not terrorizing his little sister his favorite phrase is you re the best mom ever and it melts my heart everytime he says it we love you dallin posted by smith family at 3 23 pm 3 comments saturday july 13 2013 brother s wedding in utah the last weekend in june we went to utah for my brother s wedding he was married in the provo lds temple on saturday the 29th it was a fun filled weekend with a pool party to get to know my sister in law s family on thursday girls lunch on friday and a whole day of wedding festivities on saturday most of my family made the trip from ar to ut and it was wonderful to see them again here are all the cousins outside waiting for the bride and groom to come out of the temple my sisters and i outside the temple another sister shot at the reception family shot at the reception the bride with all the neices not sure if i downloaded all the pictures yet or not but we sure had a fun trip the kids and i got to stay with my family in ut for a few more days after the wedding i ll post some temple square pictures another day posted by smith family at 11 40 am 1 comments thursday may 23 2013 surgery postponed we had a very long discussion with daphnee s doctor surgeon two days before her scheduled surgery after we acquired more information and talked everything through we decided to not have daphnee s surgery she will still need surgery but there is no rush in doing it right now and it will make no difference in her outcome or recovery if we wait to do it later we will probably reschedule it for a year from now with the support of her doctor we feel good about our decision to wait thanks for all the prayers for daphnee last week posted by smith family at 9 38 am 0 comments monday may 13 2013 daphnee stats and update daphnee has been growing so much lately she eats more than dallin at some meals even her growth was evident at her check up last week weight 20th percentile height 21st percentile she jumped from the 10th percentile for both weight and height from just six months ago at her last check up at 18 months old great growth and great check up daphnee will be having a follow up surgery to the one she had at birth on friday may 17th at primary children s hospital in salt lake city we were told to expect about a 4 day hospital stay before coming home please keep her in your prayers this week we will give an update on how things went when we return home here are some fun shots of daphnee spinning in her easter dress holding baby paxton on our visit to arkansas good ole bed head in the morning i m pretty sure she was laughing in this one and not crying she was not supposed to climb on the tv stand so she just laid down in stead this little girl is so fun and full of energy all the time we get told often that she has such a great personality she knows her colors and is beginning to talk in sentences she loves to get dressed every morning and have her hair done posted by smith family at 7 47 am 2 comments saturday may 11 2013 last couple months in review i don t want to do a lot of little posts so i m just going to combine our last couple months to catch up our blog the last part of winter the kids and i hibernated while scott went to work things in our house were pretty quiet for awhile then we headed to arkansas for three weeks in march it was kind of a last minute thing but everything fell into place and we were able to make it work it was a quick trip to arkansas 20 1 2 hours non stop except for bathroom breaks we rented a car and needed to make it to our destination within 24 hrs so we weren t charged for another full day one of the reasons we went to arkansas was to pick up a new addition to our family we needed a new family car that we fit better in and mema and papa were selling their old yukon we love our new car the kids loved getting to play on the farm while we were in arkansas dallin got good at helping with the farm chores and daphnee has a new love of dogs our trip home to idaho took almost 4 days we were trying to avoid snow storms that were covering both northern routes so we took the southern route we still ended up in a terrible sand storm that was like nothing i have ever experienced it was a little scary but we were able to stop and visit family along the way home which added to the time it took us to get home we had a great trip we had a good easter weekend we did an easter egg hunt at the park on saturday and enjoyed a great dinner on sunday we are enjoying the beautiful weather spring gave a little teaser of warm weather then we had some more snow and now this weekend we are in the 80 s and loving it we ve already broke in the kiddie pool this summer we frequent the local parks go on nature walks the boys go on bike rides and we have even tried some geocaching one of dallin s favorite activities was building a bird house with scott they did a really great job the squirrels like it more than the birds but oh well we are still alive and doing well i will try and make a better effort to keep up on our blog posted by smith family at 12 54 pm 1 comments saturday april 27 2013 our baby girl is 2 years old i know our blog has had about a 4 month break but i wanted to relaunch with daphnee s birthday post i promise i will fill in other posts later daphnee beth turned 2 years old today this is her today after a 3 1 2 hour nap she hasn t been feeling well all week so i am glad we celebrated last weekend in utah with the smith family daphnee s birthday theme was so easy to decide she absolutely loves anything and everything minnie mouse and i had a fun time planning and preparing for the party i made her these set of minnie mouse ears that turned out super cute and added a special touch to her party i think enjoy the celebration she had a blast at her party last weekend when she woke up this morning i wished her a happy birthday again and she responded with eat cake i guess the cupcakes were a big hit with her we sure do love daphnee and are so glad she is a part of our family i have enjoyed her smile these past two years happy birthday baby girl posted by smith family at 8 22 pm 1 comments wednesday december 26 2012 merry christmas 2012 we have had a wonderful holiday so far especially with scott s time off from work here are the kids dressed for church on sunday on christmas eve we decorated cookies for santa played games and the boys played outside in the snow we did get a white christmas after all and then we enjoyed a delicious christmas eve dinner put on our pajamas and read twas the night before christmas the kids were excited for santa so bedtime was a breeze here is our traditional christmas morning family photo santa was good to us this year the kids loved all their gifts and just can t get enough of all their new stuff my favorite part of our week has been teaching dallin why we celebrate christmas we watched some videos of our savior s birth to help explain to him the importance of christmas he had so many questions and by the end it was amazing just seeing the smile on his face as he understood what we were teaching him we hope you have had a wonderful christmas and hope you remember christ as we
