then inside i was amazed to learn that the author translator suparna majumder had been working on it all her life she started translating faiz since 1978 i don t know urdu well enough to evaluate the authenticity of the translation but i am blown away by the beauty of the poetry many short pieces touched my heart deeply it s difficult to write them which ones i mean in english bengali readers who don t know urdu would benefit from this book the personality of the poet faiz comes through how much he loved his country which was cut into india and pakistan he was a victim like those people who loved their motherland and fought for its freedom only to be kicked away from their home the translator s dedication and hard work shines through i will definitely urge you to check this book out i
