at nick and i struggled to conceive well the twins anyway we tried and tried and tried some more and eventually decided we were going to turn to ivf to help build our family and oddly enough as soon as i began to talk about my infertility i made connections with people who also had an infertility battle scar or two or three or twenty many of them on my tennis team some had unexplained infertility some had pcos some had diminished ovarian reserve at a strikingly young age some had recurrent pregnancy loss and some had endometriosis so badly they had difficulty conceiving some had already conceived given birth with assisted reproductive technology whether meds iuis or ivf some had chosen adoption as their path to parenthood these same women donated gobs and gobs of items to our ivf yard sale fundraiser in hopes that we would be able to pay cash for a chance at a baby and we did some of them prayed and asked others to pray some simply gave words of support and when there were no words perhaps an imperfect lob served up for the perfect overhead shot love means nothing to a tennis player but what i have for these girls is much more that posted by ap at 12 50 am 3 comments email situation 9 people 3 dogs 4 bedrooms we decided it was best not to have andy s 2nd birthday party at the house this year i was a little bummed because i am all about having birthday parties at home it is just easier i think more room no toting stuff back and forth more bathrooms no loading up the car no changing diapers etc plus we almost always had parties at home as a kid and i can remember enjoying each and every one of them but this year no party at home june was a crazy month and i needed a fun party with little effort it just so happened that monsters university opening weekend coincided with andy s birthday weekend so movies and pizza it was hand drawn mike invites all blank stationary was 50 off at hobby lobby a little ms word magic and a free cute new font we just invited our family and cousins which makes for a full house with our bunch we met up for a matinee movie my kiddos first time and man i forgot how long previews are they should totally do them after for kids movies and then afterwards headed over to stevi b s for some pizza buffet this is totally a great deal for kids age 3 and under they eat free with paid adults why have we never been to stevi b s before giving us their scariest screams i skipped out on the party room and crossed my fingers it wouldn t be too crowded when we got there gigi and poppie kept charlie b while we were at the movies and snagged the tables for us a little before we got there i purchased some balloons from party city rip off but cute i seriously almost had a moment like steve martin in the hotdogs hotdog bun scene in father of the bride when i was charged almost 5 to fill up the darn balloons that cost 2 50 you mean to tell me i purchase the balloons in your store and you are charging me a fee for stupid helium ugh you are a jerk face party city i digress i brought in my own juice boxes i asked permission from stevie b s and thought they couldn t get much cuter i wanted to buy every different character they had on the the juice aisle at publix but just kept to the purple blue and green color scheme i used my 40 off coupon at hobby lobby to purchase the chevron fabric used as a table cloth i really wanted lime green so i could re use it for halloween christmas you name it but of course no green the aqua chevron will no doubt be making an appearance in the future just not for sure for what occasion yet monster juice i had no idea there was a money sucking try to win tickets dumb gameroom i thought it was just an arcade on first glance arcade does that age me or what side note i remember going to my first boy girl party for my friend kelli s bday g golly molly s where you could draw on the table and then the arcade at the galleria mall and we kicked some bozo the clown game tail again aging myself it was so fun though of course my children hit the ticket jackpot and the bloody nose jackpot parker won a bajillion tickets for something and caroline ended up with the looked like someone was bleeding out type of bloody nose because some darn kid in a gween shirt hit her but it was an assident so says the victim ticket king birthday crown free from the disney store i made cupcakes the night before to somewhat resemble mike and sully from the movie not perfect but not bad considering i have very little decorating talent and a shaky decorating hand i really dislike the black gel not my friend and certainly did not hold up well the next morning mike and sully cupcakes darn black gel i searched pinterest high and low for cute monsters gift favor ideas but again didn t have the time or the energy i decided to forgo the candy and treat bags and instead purchase mini bean bag monsters for 6 each at the disney store i added a thank you for coming tag using ms word easy as pie of course now every time i turn around there are monsters u goodies popping out at me target even had some in the dollar bins overall the party was a hit the pizza was yummy and the kids had a good time it was a relatively easy party to put together i had to force myself to back away from making scream canisters out of pringle cans although that could be a cute party favor too and even better i didn t have to attempt to clean my house for party guests monsters u at stevi b s momma loves you andy boy you are the sweetest most easy going kid anyone could ask for and you re a cute little thing to anniversary cake today nick and i celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary we have actually been celebrating since saturday when i drove up to athens to get our traditional anniversary cakes from cecelia villaveces they are ridiculously good and i m sure ridiculously bad for you they made our wedding cake lemon with butter cream and groom s cake chocolate mocha and we have tried to make it a yearly tradition of getting a small cake of each to celebrate with we missed the last two years andy was born two years ago and last year we had just completed the hillbilly house switch and learned i was pregnant with charlie not as easy as it used to be driving 1 5 hours each way for cake but this year i was able to make the trip for cake have lunch with a sweet college friend and pick up some c list furniture for the boys room on the way home a handful of birds and one stone i suppose as of tonight these cakes no longer exist 8 and counting i sure do love that boy i think i knew it before i even met him i may have stalked him a bit the summer before 9th grade when i got my hands on a yearbook from his middle school from a girl on my basketball team all i knew was that he was cute and we were going to be in the same homeroom based on our last names and we were and i loved him from the first day of 9th grade we almost instantly became best friends i think it actually had something to do with the fact i had a few rbis in my softball game and my name was on the announcements and that thank you lord gave us something to talk about yay for softball he truly is my better half and i cannot tell you all the ways and reasons why i love him he is an amazing person friend husband and father he makes me laugh and smile for every reason and for no reason take this email exchange from pinterest labels anniversary monday june 10 2013 pirate and princess party i admit it i have a problem i say after each party next year something nice and small and then i get excited about party planning and that theory goes out the window maybe next year i think maybe it s the fact that i know in the near future i won t get to dictate the party theme so i am having my fun while it lasts pinterest also fuels the fire we have such a love hate relationship me and pinterest inevitably i never have enough time money or talent to pull off a true pinterest accomplishment but we have fun trying and sometimes i surprise myself at how cute some of the things turn out i started with selecting these cute pirate and princess shirts from polka dots and stripes you can find her on fb i came across her site on accident and think she has the cutest applique designs and fonts out there i have used polka dots and stripes for a few different occasions and i have never been disappointed playing the parts well i had the best of intentions of just having the kids play outside in my parents fantastic backyard but mother nature decided on rain bummer so we crammed it all inside see that treasure chest styrofoam cooler it totally could have been one of those epic pinterest fails apparently spray paint and styrofoam don t really like each other too much as in the spray paint ate away at the poor cooler and put holes all in that sucker so it became decor instead of holding our drinks i really wish i had an up close picture for laughs i really didn t intend on having themed food but again i just get carried away so here is what we came up with pirate fare seaweed stew spinach dip fish n chips n dip chips with goldfish crackers mixed in cannon balls chocolate donut holes polly s cheese and crackers treasure taco dip the toppings looked like jewels right right pirate side princess fare princess popcorn popcorn drizzled with pink candy melts delicious glittered grapes grapes rolled in jello powder and strawberries purple princess fruit dip princess pizza dip should have made double pink sugar wafers princess side cupcakes were again a team effort gigi makes the best chocolate icing and i must say my icing can hold its own pirate ships on the open sea princess poufs so many of my supplies came from hobby lobby love that place like pirate and pouf cupcake toppers the ocean wave cupcake wrappers i found here every guest received either a pirate and sword or a princess hat and wand i m not sure why princesses have wands but they do pirate hats and swords were ordered from amazon and will be reused again at halloween i scored 4 halloween costumes at gymboree during christmas princess hats were made of simple pink party hats with tulle threaded through the top simple and cute for the wands i used this tutorial and i must say turned out super cute pirate andy with his paci we sang happy birthday twice and blew out candles twice we opened gifts and passed out loot bags i found some burlap ribbon at hobby lobby and hot glued them into sacks i used red craft paint and a sponge brush to paint on the xs it was much easier than expected i love it when ideas in my head actually come to fruition they were stuffed with pirate tattoos on 75 clearance at target after valentine s day silver hershey s nuggets and gold rolos and yes i was crazy enough to tie twine around the bottle water why i don t know but i think it turned out cute and kind of fit the pirate theme despite the rain we had an enjoyable pirate and princess party how is it these mostly that so much time has gone by august 2009 i was praying that those two beautiful little embryos would find a nice place to call home inside of me for the next 9 months or so and since then my life has been forever changed ok i need to stop before i get all weepy and sentimental p and c celebrated their actual birthday day by having lunch with daddy at firehouse subs firehouse even treated them both to a free brownie awesome they each got to open a gift boring pjs to get them in the pirate and princess spirit i hope to continue the lunch tradition with each kiddo for as long as possible i even had a moment leaving the dq where i imagined driving to athens to visit my college babies at uga and take them to lunch whoa slow down time birthday lunch date we then headed off for haircuts and an ice cream cake from dairy queen those things are ridiculous that chocolate crunchy center yum poppie gigi and granny came over later that night for ice cream cake and gifts we sang happy birthday opened a few gifts listened to poor andy boy cry because it wasn t his birthday and played on the tricycles before we realized that they were too tall to keep them we had our pirate and princess party two days later and what fun we had even with the rain we finished up birthday week okay week after birthday week with a visit to see dr h for our well check both kiddos were extremely well behaved and thoroughly and spent lots of time with family rejoicing in a savior that is risen we had our first maybe annual egg hunt pizza party at our house this year so many kids and so much fun i opted for the easy way out plastic eggs and peeps on top of the cupcakes but i think it turned out cute the icing was homemade so that counts for something right our easter treats i lucked out and found a monogrammed easter basket from my local place on sale via fb for 12 for caroline and will order a new liner for charlie all the boys will have matching baskets liners and caroline s will coordinate best easter basket investment ever these things should last us ages and i don t have to worry about buying a new one every year not to mention i think they are super cute all of the kiddos post egg hunt and just before the rain i m sad to say we didn t go to church gotta work on that sunday morning but we did color easter eggs with poppie and gigi and katie and her crew poppie and caroline ready
