the anniversary of a few things a isabelle s first ear infection b 1 year at my job c the 26th birthday of my husband since my job is the least exciting of the 3 and isabelle s first ear infection isn johnas i love you comments 2 more smartness some not so smartness february 23 2009 filed under uncategorized just the other day i posted a few words that isabelle uses that night she started using down not down like i want you to put me down down like lexi get down she really does pick up on a lot these days she also signed her first phrase more milk she doesn t sign a whole lot but she knows some of the basics she may be picking up on things but potty training is definitely not one of them last night she pointed to her diaper and whined ehh ehh which means i have a wet diaper it was about 10 minutes before bath time so instead of taking her downstairs to get a new one i just took it off and let her run around a bit i could tell when i took it off that she had just gone i knew she wouldn t go on the potty but i put her on it anyway to get her used to sitting on it she sat for a while and then whined to get down i got her down and she played in the bathroom for a while mostly picking up the stool and moving it and climbing on it and then off and then moving it and repeat she eventually put it in front of the toilet squatted and pooped i think she knew she had to go but she doesn t know what to do yet so i picked her up as fast as i could to put her back on the potty but it was a little too late or a lot to0 late i cleaned up and she helped me flush it was just about thank you it is very much appreciated leave a comment ent news february 11 2009 filed under uncategorized the ear nose throat doctor said that isabelle doesn t need tubes she doesn t have infection on top of infection or a deep family history that i know of they are an option for us though it is a 10 minute procedure and the tubes are only 1 5mm wide the doctor said the surgery would be less dangerous than letting isabelle out of our sight for 5 minutes because at the appointment she was running around like a maniac and pulling on electrical cords the tubes can eliminate 80 to 90 percent of infections she has to be knocked out for the procedure and i don t like that her hearing was fine and the insides of her ears looked perfect so i think we ll wait and see the biggest conflict for me is that she gets an infection almost anytime she has a runny nose and she gets a runny nose with every new tooth and she s got a lot of teeth left to get for now we re not going to do the tubes i glance inside isabelle has been super helper lately she likes throwing things away and seems to know where all of the garbage cans in the house are located yesterday while playing in her room we found a sticker from a shirt i said oh that s garbage and she immediately picked it up and speedily walked around the corner to the bathroom to throw it away she turned around smiled and i gave her a high five later in the evening as i was getting ready for bed i saw that sticker at the top of the garbage can and smiled it made me think about how much my little girl isn t a baby anymore she s a little person i love her so much i can t even explain it when a sticker in the garbage makes you smile you know you ve entered motherhood leave a comment going green february 2 2009 filed under uncategorized i wouldn t consider myself overly crunchy defined adjective used to describe persons who have adjusted or altered their lifestyle for environmental reasons but i sort of got into the whole attachment parenting thing and i have made a few environmental changes lately the biggest being the switch to cloth diapers now before you get all ewww on me let me tell you these aren t your mama s cloth diapers visual evidence see this is my stash as they call it in the cd cloth diaper world we re using exclusively pocket style diapers this is just a diaper with a waterproof outer layer and usually a fleece liner they need to be stuffed with an insert to absorb the wet when it s dirty you pull out the insert and throw the whole thing in the washer easy peasy except the poo part it is gross i ll admit it i don t care so much though i just hold my breath and swish the poo in the toilet until no more comes off then it s into the washer with the rest other things i ve done plan to do using homemade laundry detergent i bought the stuff i m currently using but when this runs out i will attempt to make my own i have lots of plans to go to the farmer s market more this year we ll be in madison fitchburg on saturday mornings anyway for classes at the little gym so it s not like we d be using too much gas to get there this summer i will get a clothes line to dry some clothes i ve been leery in the past because our yard is like the earwig capital of the world my most hated living thing is the earwig gross if that becomes a problem i will at least dry the cds outside don t google this one if you re grossed out easily i recently ordered a diva cup that s all i ll say about that slowly change out burnt out light bulbs for energy efficient bulbs two more goals for the summer
