august 13 2026 beetleypete 39 comments not my photo there was some excitement yesterday as there was a chance of seeing a 95 eclipse of the sun from britain we had to go out anyway and decided to leave it until late afternoon as the supposed best time to see the eclipse was between 5pm 7pm first stop was the tile and flooring shop on the industrial estate behind the tesco superstore we chose some wall and floor tiles for the new shower room that is replacing the bathroom and told the salesman that our plumber would be in later this month to buy them back outside just before 5pm no sign of an eclipse starting quickly popped around to tesco to buy a gift voucher for a family birthday coming up still hot and sunny when we came out then we decided to go to the homeware shop the range to buy a new toilet roll holder hand towel ring and small waste bin to have ready for the new shower room that s only a 5 minute drive from tesco by the time we left there it was getting closer to 6pm but the sun was still shining brightly a short drive back to the car park in town we had found out that the turkish restaurant was open again after a short holiday closure and we were the first people in there for dinner starters and main course eaten and enjoyed we took our drinks outside to sit at the small table on the street by then it was 7 20pm and still quite sunny but a few degrees cooler on the way home the sun was shining so brightly we had to have the sunshades flipped down inside the car windscreen we concluded that we had missed the eclipse which had probably happened some time heard one side of the conversation maria was having on the phone but as she was half smiling he presumed it was nothing too serious he said what and just from a story outline he wants what a complete
