ago i had the privilege of going on a 2 week mission trip to tanzania by way of south africa the one thing i came away with was that we here in the us have so much but are often miserable in tanzania they have so little but are joyful it was a lesson i will never forget for as long as i breathe this picture is of a doll hung up in razor wire at an orphanage talk about juxtaposition we also had the america lost its public grammar it was written by the rev dr donald moore his substack is called the southern anglican orthodoxy with a drawl this thoughtful essay is extremely easy to read and barely touches on anything religious and where it does it is non doctrinal do not avoid this because it was penned by a priest there was a time not so long ago when a trip to the grocery store required a certain level of dignity women wore dresses some wore gloves men wore slacks often a jacket at minimum a button down shirt postal workers looked like minor military officers police carried themselves with visible authority priests were unmistakable even at a distance no one needed to explain who they were it was understood the title caught my attention as i am old enough to remember when men would always wear suits and women dresses if they were going to travel on an airplane also part of the experience was that smoking was allowed on the plane and each seat had its own ashtray in the armrest no really times change fr moore uses bullet points and short cogent sentences to take us through his observation of how society has evolved regardless of your political or religious ideology i think
